Ownplate privacy
Short version: there is no account, your recipes stay on your device, and we never see them.
Last updated October 26, 2026.
What stays on your device
Ownplate has no account and no sign-in. Your recipes, meal plans, grocery lists, pantry and settings are stored only in your browser’s storage on your device. They are not sent to us, and we never see them.
Because the data lives in your browser, clearing your browser’s site data for Ownplate erases it. Use the one-tap backup in Settings to save a copy as a file. You can open that file on another device to move your data there.
The two times data leaves your device
1. Importing a recipe from a link
When you use “Import from a link”, the app sends that link to our server. The server fetches the web page and sends the recipe back to your device. We don’t keep the recipe or the link.
- We log only the website’s name (for example, example.com), the time, and whether the import worked.
- We don’t log the full link.
- Your IP address is used only to stop abuse: it counts how many imports one address makes per minute. It is held in the import service’s memory and never written to disk.
2. Buying Pro
When you buy, Stripe handles the payment, so we never see your card details. Stripe’s own privacy policy covers what Stripe keeps. Stripe passes us your email address so we can send you your license key.
We store your email, the purchase id, the amount paid and the date, so we can send your key again if you lose it and handle refunds. Your license key is checked on your device, not on our server.
What we don’t do
- No analytics.
- No ads.
- No trackers.
- No cookies set by the app. (Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site, may set a short-lived security cookie to tell people from bots.)
Hosting and server logs
This website (ownplate.party) and the benjiapps store (benjiapps.com) are delivered through Cloudflare, a network company that sits in front of our server to deliver pages and block attacks. Every request to either site, including the app’s requests to import a recipe or buy Pro, passes through Cloudflare on its way to our server. So Cloudflare sees your IP address and the address of each request (for example, which page you opened), and may log them under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Our own server keeps standard access logs of each page request (IP address, time, page and browser) for security. Requests to import a recipe are not in these logs. The recipe link you paste travels inside the request, never in the address, so it is never part of a logged address, and the import service itself keeps no IP addresses. None of these logs include your recipes, plans or lists, which stay on your device.
